Blast Furnaces & Hot Blast Stoves
In 1997, FIBS was the first company to successfully apply ceramic welding for the repair of refractories in hot blast stoves. Since then, FIBS teams have carried out numerous repairs by ceramic welding and endoscopic inspection of hot blast stoves and bustle pipes. In 2025, M/S BFSCC Bokaro and M/S FIBS performed successfully their first ceramic welding repair under endoscopy in India.
Endoscopic Survey of Hot Blast Stoves, Hot Main, Bustle Ring, Tuyeres and Other Components

FIBS has developed its own endoscopic equipment (covering all diameters, lengths, and angles), enabling inspection of hot blast stoves and blast furnaces in both hot and cold (dark) conditions.
Regular endoscopic inspections assist operators with their preventive maintenance strategies and serve as a useful tool for supporting online repairs.
FIBS usually inspects (but is not limited to):
-
Hot Air Outlets
-
Hot Blast Main
-
Burners
-
Combustion Chambers
-
Checkers and Dome
-
Bustle Rings
-
Tuyeres
-
Taphole
Ceramic Welding of Hot Blast Stoves, Hot Mains, Bustle Rings
Ceramic welding for preventive maintenance and hot repairs of hot blast stoves was introduced by FIBS in the mid-90s.
Today, ceramic welding is considered an essential technique for preserving the refractory linings of hot blast stoves and other critical blast furnace components.
Regarding preventive maintenance, ceramic welding operations focus on the consolidation of the hot air outlet. Additionally, we perform repairs on the refractory lining of the combustion chamber, burners, domes, bustle pipes, arches under the burner, and hot mains.
